I got rid of most of my Teflon cookware as I was getting more and more concerned about the surface material coming off. I'm so glad I did. Now I am reacquainting myself,with the cast iron skillet. It has proved to be great over and over. Although I think I need a tutorial on cooking eggs in cast iron, it is wonderful for making many dishes and true to cast iron gets better every time I use it. Thanks for an American made product that I know will last and last.

I received this skillet as a gift from my son. It is great! I love that it came pre-seasoned. I cooked it with it within 10 minutes of opening it. It is high quality, not that light cheap stuff from China. I love it and would recommend this to anyone. Especially helpful, is the little handle on the side.

I bought the 12-inch Lodge skillet for my husband for our sixth anniversary (iron). My mom used cast iron cookware for a very long time, and I have a lot of faith in the product and the Lodge brand, which I'm happy to say makes their products right here in the U.S. in my home-state of Tennessee.
First, the pan is extremely heavy. Initially, I was surprised as the weight of this hefty skillet and sort of regretted buying the 12-inch instead of a 10-inch, which are included in most sets. That being said, once it's on the burner there's no need to do a lot of lifting. Although the main handle is too short to provide adequate leverage for one-handed lifting, the helper handle is quite handy. Despite its extreme weight, the skillet has plenty of room for frying family-sized meals, which is a huge plus. After several uses, we really love the skillet, and I think you will too. Even if it's heavy, just remind yourself that it's probably toning up your arms and building new muscles!!
